Azerbaijani Elmar has started his music training with his father, Refik Azimov, who was a children’s music educator and orchestra chief. He has completed his high school education in the class of world known Timofey Doksitser, President of the World Trumpeters Association.

In 1982, Elmar was awarded the first degree in the National Wind Instruments of Baku and in 1984 the third degree in the International Caucasian Music Players competitions. He was graduated with Masters degree in trumpet from Baku State Music Academy in 1993.

He played in the following orchestras:

Baku Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, Azerbaijan
Lublin Symphony Orchestra, Poland
Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, CRR, Akbank, Istanbul and Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestras, Turkey

Elmar is still working as a soloist trumpeter in the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra. He aims to popularize the Copper Wind Instruments through his concerts with Golden Horn Quartet.
