Printmaking is the act of producing an image on one surface and transferring it to another surface (usually paper) using pressure, either by hand or by a press.

Carolyn’s surface of choice is copper sheeting. She creates intricate designs into the surface of the copper by etching the surface with a salt solution. With handmade oil based inks, she transfers her designs from the inked copper onto various papers with use of an etching press.

It is possible to make several prints from each copper “plate”, however Carolyn prefers to make unique one of a kind works that are often embellished with gold or silver leaf, pastel, watercolour or graphite.
